This interactive course will advise lawyers about how to handle a challenging client while complying with the ethics rules. The faculty will discuss the ethics rules involved, including scope of representation, communication, confidentiality, conflicts, candor to tribunal, and fairness to opposing party and counsel. Hypotheticals will be used to explore these situations.
What You Will Learn?
The course will consider a variety of scenarios in which a client can make the representation difficult, including:
• When a client makes unreasonable demands
• When a client repeatedly chooses to ignore the lawyer’s legal advice
• When a client fails to meet financial and other obligations to his/her lawyer
• When a client fails to comply with court or other legal obligations.
Please note:
During the presentation, a one-digit number will randomly appear. This will happen 3 times. Please write down each number as, together, they will serve as your "CLE Password".
DRI will apply for CLE in your state upon request in writing to cle@dri.org.
Once the approval is received, DRI will report your attendance to your local state agency where applicable. For more information, please see the "Post Seminar Action" for your state below.
Approval times can take anywhere from 4 - 6 weeks.
